cast on complete

I finally finished the cast-on for Miss Dashwood. and I made it thru the first two rows of ribbing and into the stockinette. my fingers hurt though - I’m not sure if it’s cuz I knit so tight or if it has something to do with the size 6 needles. I am quite happy that it fit around the 29″ circ I have almost perfectly - it felt like I had to stretch it a bit to join the cast-on, but now that I’m knitting it it seems to fit just fine. I’m wondering how long I can keep it on there before I have to switch to the dpns, since I’m not really in the mood to hunt down a shorter circ for it.

I had fun admiring everyone’s stashes today. Good to know that I’m nowhere near SABLE status yet. (I also saw a foreshadowing of what my stash could look like if I get seriously addicted to spinning… we’ll just hold off on that for now. ;-) )

sometime this afternoon, I decided to cast-on for Miss Dashwood. I pulled a skein out of the Misc Ebay box that I’m pretty sure is Bernat’s Denim in the maroon/white color. (I tried the burn test and it melted - it’s like 7o/30 acrylic/cotton, so I guess that was to be expected. at any rate, it feels nice and soft like the labeled ones in the stores feel.) I’m making it for the baby my cousin just had on St Paddy’s Day. so far I’m still working on that picot cast on edge, which is kind of fun, but annoying cuz the stitches keep jumping off the needle when I try to bind off the stitches. oh, well - at least it’s just the two involved in the bind offs, and not more. (I suppose this is what I get for knitting so tight).

I’m waiting somewhat impatiently for the new Knitty to be posted. Last update was that it should be up sometime within the next week. I hate waiting for the new issue - too much anticipation.
