2008 Knitting Goals

4 comentarios »
    Stash goals:

  • decrease the stash by half. this may be a lofty goal, but I’d really like to make a good dent in it
  • use more sock yarn than I buy. at last count, I had enough to make approx. 40 pairs of socks. at the usual rate of one month for a pair, it’ll be a while until I’ve worked through it.
    Knitting goals:

  • reduce the WIPs down to about 5 at any given time. the 20 or so I have right now is a bit scary
  • work on the Great American Aran Afghan. 1-2 squares a month seems doable
  • more knitting for myself. I’d like to have at least two handknit sweaters by the end of the year. and a few more socks. and winter accessories for myself
  • less holiday gift knitting. I’m pondering Felted Clogs as next year’s theme, but only if I know they’ll get used by the recipient. stockings are another idea.
  • more holiday decor knitting. I want to cover the house in lacy snowflakes, felted snowmen, etc.

A tally of this year’s projects:
Hats: 7
Bags: 5
Mittens/Gloves/Etc: 3
Socks: 3
Bibs: 3
Cat Stuff: 2
Toys: 2
Cowl: 1
Clogs: 1
Washcloth: 1

Total FO’s: 28

Out of that, 8 items went to charity (Dulaan, Mother Bear, a local mitten collection, Hats for Alex), 5 items were felted, 4 items were gifted to family, 4 were a baby gift for a friend, 5 items were knit for swaps, and 7 were kept for me.

My goals for the year (though never really posted) were to work through the sock yarn stash and finish some of the UFO’s/WIPs. I made three pair of socks - not bad, but it really didn’t make much of a dent in the stash. As for the UFO’s, I did make some effort - I frogged about 4 projects that weren’t going to be finished, and I finished two pre-2007 projects: the cat bed & the 2nd Mother Bear bear (both started summer 2005). I still have approx. 20 projects on the needles though.

Favorites this year: my clogs & the first k-chan.

knitting in a winter wonderland

dh went out of town to visit a friend for the weekend (he’ll be back at some point on Monday).

my goals: finish the gift knits (for L, my sis, and maybe the BIL. oh, and dad’s hat), finish the gift sewing (4 pillows in brocade. should be pretty straightforward), go see Sweeney Todd, and grab what I don’t already have for the gift baking (cookies for dad & the BIL).

I’ve been working on L’s mittens (meant to be last year’s gift) and am now nearly done with them - just need to get the 2nd one off the needles and sort out the thumbs on both of them.

A’s toy is nearly done - I need to get it felted and stuffed.

I need to go run some errands today, but I don’t really want to leave - my KnitPicks order left the local Sortation center at 12:13AM today, and I REALLY need the needles in it to work on dad’s hat. (of course, if I wait around all day, they won’t show up until the 24th, which is the ‘estimated in home’ date)
