a (small) group of people at work have asked me to show them how to knit.
I’m thinking of just having them make a practice square to start out with.
now for the questions…
* teach them knit & purl in the first session, or see how they get on and wing it?
* any sites you’d recommend (beyond knittinghelp.com) in case they have questions and I’m not around?

Um……. Is there something you could show them how to knit in the round? That would be quick and avoid purling for a little bit, until they have knitting down.
I think Chris has a good idea. Why not start off with a hat? One 16-inch circular would do the trick. A purl stripe could be put in when they’re ready to learn purling maybe?
Try to avoid using 14-inch long straights or any kind of lumpy or floofy or hairy yarn. Let them pick which hand they hold the yarn with. Some of them may naturally keep changing to a preferred hand if you tell them which to use the wrong one. That gets hard for them.
