I finished the first sock the other day. I put it on my foot (my pal has eerily similar foot measurements). I’ve decided it’s too tight (and since her given length measurement is a smidge longer than mine, I’m fairly certain she’d think it too tight as well). so I need to frog the toe back, and a few pattern repeats and then rework the toe. but I’m not in the mood for that right now. (it’s upsetting, actually. this sock was full of perfect coincidences, one of which was that it was *this close* to finishing at the end of the pattern repeat and at exactly 50g.) so this morning, I started sock #2. I’m nearly finished with the ribbing.
Harry Potter… I have no idea what I’m going to do about the book. I reserved it online for pick-up at a nearby Borders last week. I have no idea what the deal at Borders is (ok, so they’re having a “Ball” starting at 9:30pm and then you can get your book at midnight. but beyond that, I don’t if there’s wristbands involved or anything). I dropped my name into a box at the not-so-local library for a HP7 drawing. but the drawing isn’t until 11am tomorrow and you need to be present to win (there’s also an HP ice cream social or something going on too - again, fuzzy on the details). then, I discovered that the local WallyWorld will have it at midnight, and for less than Borders (of course it’s cheaper, it’s WallyWorld.). WallyWorld is the closest to home. the library is between home and Borders. Borders has two LYS nearby, but would I really want to hit the LYS when I have my HP book? the fact that gas is hovering around $3/gallon doesn’t help (it makes me think ’stay close to home’. on the other hand, I could get it at Sam’s which is near Borders and generally a bit less). unfortunately, to my knowledge, the slightly-bigger-than-a-speck town I live in doesn’t have a bookstore that I’m aware of. I wonder if Pamida will have the book (their flyer didn’t say much about it). maybe I should call them…
in other news, I really want to start a new pair of socks. for me. back in, what was it, April? May? when Nancy and I wandered down to St Peter, I picked up the green/black koigu (P532) (you can see the color here - click on their color viewer. it’s pretty close.). I’ve since picked up some odds and ends of solid greens and black from the taste of koigu bin at Needlework Unlimited. and a couple weeks ago, the pattern came to me: Nagini. now, to figure out what size foot the pattern is written for and figure out how to upsize it to fit my foot/gauge.

Oh my, such complicated mechanations for the book!! :) I’m on the list at the library for the cds… And they’re already in circulation!!
