You may recall that back in January, I spent a full day knitting up the Kureyon Chan pattern by Chris.
If you need a bit of a refresher, here’s a pic of it pre-felting:

(it’s the smaller one)
Here’s the bag after felting:

wasn’t expecting that much fuzzing from the Paton’s SWS
And here’s what it looks like now, after a bit of a trim:

Isn’t this a little small for me?

Maybe if I get closer to the camera, she’ll stop trying to get me to pose with this thing.

I wonder if there’s any catnip for me in here

before I finished. the hat was too big. apparently I can’t count. or something. if I remake the hat, I’m going to need to cast on 20 stitches less. (maybe casting on when I’m not feeling so great isn’t the best of ideas?). so yes, the blue hat is no more.
so, where does that leave us? back to dad’s gloves. glove #2 now has about 1/3 of a finger. it’ll be a full finger (hopefully more than that) by the time I get home tonight.
in the next post, I will hopefully have the felted k-chan up. I know Chris has been waiting for that.
and since I have your attention…
St Patrick’s Season begins in earnest tonight. Tomorrow my dance school will be performing at the Mall of America (12:45, I think. Other schools will be dancing throughout the day). I will not be dancing, but I will be there taking pics (and maybe knitting before/after). Sunday is the day you want to mark your calendars for, because I WILL be dancing at the Landmark Center in St Paul. Our show starts at 4:15pm, I will be making 3 or 4 brief appearances throughout. Info here (this weekend is the Day of Dance) and on the Landmark Center’s site (which is linked on the previous site somewhere).
Should you not be able to make it this weekend, I’ll also be dancing on St Patrick’s day itself, again at the Landmark Center (again, info can be found here - this time follow the St Patrick’s day festivities linkage), this time in the morning (10:50am, to be precise). And since this group is much smaller, I will be lucky if I get a break to breathe at all during the performance. but it’ll be fun. and then, if I’m not completely dead, I’ll be meeting up with the dance school for the St Paul St Pat’s parade.

here’s the stuff I sent to my friend Snoopy.

Sailboat hat from Itty Bitty Hats. I used the Tahki’s classic cotton, but the shop didn’t have the exact color numbers used in the pattern, so I picked some that were close enough. I followed the 1-2 year size, but I’m not sure how close to size I came (it’s about 15″ around). I’m hoping it’s in the ‘it fits’ or the ‘it’s just a little bit too big’ spectrum of sizing and not ‘oh my gosh it’s huge’.

and here we have the bibs. made from Sugar ‘n Creme cotton. the one on the left is Summer Splash, the middle one is Swimming Pool, and I’ll have to get back to you on the other color. Pattern from Mason-Dixon on size 7 needles.

this, according to my notes, was started in July 2005 with the thoughts of “it’ll be quick - it’s just garter stitch!” I think the yarn was bought during the xmas shopping season of 2004. good ol Lion Brand Wool-Ease and Fun Fur. finally finished: Feb 6, 2007
let me tell you, my it’ll be quick thoughts were so far off, it’s not even funny. yes, the circle base did go pretty quick, but the sides. tell me how you feel after you’ve knit a garter stitch scarf made with those yarns held together. (the fact that I alternated white and black fur every few rows probably didn’t help my speed.)
on the plus side, Kashka took to using just the base quite nicely. I think she enjoys it fully finished better though. I did make a modification - I stuffed the sides (with the stuff you stuff stuffed toys with). definitely like it that way.
here’s some pics for your enjoyment:
from January:

What do you mean it’s not finished? It feels finished to me?
(I don’t think it was stuffed at this point, and if you look closely, you can see the gray yarn ends floating about on the floor)
all finished:

thanks for putting this in front of the heater. now I’ll be comfy while lounging here.

ok, stop it with the pictures already. I’d like to sleep without that light that keeps flashing.

they don’t call me the Russian Spy Kitty for no reason. I’m keeping my eyes on you…
sidenote: she’s not really Russian. just her name is.
