glove update

glove one still has 2 fingers. I got tired of them. so I started glove #2 - the ribbing is done and I’m over half-way to the thumb (I’m hoping to be at or past the thumb after tonight’s bus ride). hm. maybe if I focus on them tonight and tomorrow, I CAN get them done by the end of the month.

in other news, you may have heard we got a lot of snow this weekend (with more on the way). apparently, the weather gods do not care about my (and every other Irish dancer ’round these parts) need to get to St Patrick’s day rehearsals (there is more heavy snow predicted for Thursday, which, coincidently is another evening of St Pat’s rehearsals). so, in lieu of spending all day Sunday at dance (costume fitting, rehearsal, and then class), I finally threw the K-Chan into the wash. and it’s tiny. (dh says I shouldn’t have felted it. he liked it better pre-felting sized). pics to be posted tomorrow. I also got a few more sections done on Dulaan hat #2.

oh, and the Alchemy that thought it wanted to be a neckwarmer… I think it wants to be a scarf: the inspiration. hopefully it doesn’t change it’s mind.

I frogged the might-be-neckwarmer.

I’ve got two fingers done on glove #1. darn. I was hoping to finish these by the end of the month… not so sure that’s going to happen.

also started a penguin. unfortunately, it’s got a chunk of intarsia, so it’s a stay-at-home project. too much concentration required. not to mention all the ends. but it will be cute. I want to stay home and work on it. (ETA: the penguin pattern if from Fiber Trends. I picked it up at Creative Fibers last weekend)

the knitting ADD is strong. I blame the Options

did I mention I got my KP Options needles? and that I love them (and I’m loving magic loop with them). let’s discuss the projects that have jumped on the needles since these came into my home. please note that I have 6 cables for the set, plus a pair of circs in all the small sizes.

* the CTH Glitz legwarmers “trapped in a sock’s body” - started the legs on size 4. switched to 3s for the foot. the glitz itches. they are waiting to have the heel frogged. the size 4 needles are still on a cord waiting.

* the brown socks (KP Essential) - started a swatch to figure out what gauge I want to use. the swatch is still on one of the size 1s.

* it might be a neckwarmer - yummy wool/silk blend Alchemy on size 8s. I’m not sure if I like how the colors are playing together in this pattern. I might return to it, or I might frog it. I haven’t decided yet

* dad’s xmas gloves - finally started these last week (hey, at least it’s still winter). the current bus project - I’m in the thumb increasing zone on glove #1. being magic looped on size 5s

* Dulaan hat #2 - being worked on size 7s, I think.

* Wicked sweater - still in the swatching stage. the swatch is still on the cord while the 7s are in active status on the other project

* Fuzzy Feet - being magic looped on size 10.5s.

I’m thinking Dulaan hat #1 (aka the machine knitting hat mentioned previously) needs the ribbing worked on size 6s, but alas, I have no size 6s in a 12″ or 16″ circ, and the size 5s in those lengths are either missing or in a project. if you’re keeping count, I’m near running out of cables (I may have to steal the one from the legwarmers since they’re not too active at the moment), so not much happening there.

ok, so that’s what? 7 or 8 projects cast on in the last two or so weeks? this does not bode well for the UFO Challenge… (well, not like the list wasn’t long enough to begin with, but the goal IS to finish things, and casting on 7 projects in two weeks with no guarantees that the projects will see the finish line anytime soon just doesn’t seem to be working towards that goal. ah, well.)

speaking of the UFO Challenge: for February, I chose to frog the purple/white legwarmers that were started in July 2005. which gives me back a Denise cable. I’m thinking the yarn may become a hat or mittens. or it may just sit in the stash for awhile. we’ll see…

I’ll try to get some pics of finished things up later this week. The computer is happy again, I just haven’t gotten things done.

oh, and I’ll be heading to the Mall this weekend for the Knit Out. A few fellow knittyheads have decided to add a yarn crawl to the festivities, which should be fun.

I just upgraded from WP 1.5 to WP 2.1 … I’m coming out of the dark ages, I tell ya!

so, um, if things are a bit messed up, that’d be why. if you’re feeling kind, leave me a comment/email telling me what’s gone wrong so I can fix things quicker. thanks

now, to go see what damage (if any) has been done…

18 months later…

… Kashka’s cat bed is finished. and she uses it. (and she looks quite cute in it).

unfortunately, my motherboard is near death so the pics are trapped in the camera. (along with some pics of the squirrel that inhabits the tree outside the upstairs bathroom window. I feel the need to compete with my sister’s photos of birds and squirrels. there’s also a freaky pic of Kashka.)

I also spent yesterday weaving in the ends on bibs #2 & #3 and finishing the sailboat hat (ends woven and two of the four applique pieces attached).

and I put the attempt at machine knitting a hat onto the needles so it can be finished. only problem is I don’t know how long to make it. will have to ponder that a bit more.

oh, and I bought the pattern for Wicked on the weekend and started swatching. I’m trying to work out how to make the Classic Elite Princess (color 3432) fit the gauge of the pattern. so far I love working with the yarn, I just wish it was closer to the pattern’s gauge. (pattern adjustment math would be a lot easier with the computer. or a calculator.)

I also finished listening to all six Harry Potter books on CD (started around Christmas), so I’m not sure what to watch/listen to while knitting now.

the socks. yeah. I’ve got the heel turned and all that on the first one. and then they spoke to me - the yarn thinks it wants to be legwarmers. (the fact that a bit of glitz was making my foot itch while trying them on might have something to do with this.) well, at least they spoke at the end of the heel and not just before beginning the toe. they’re in limbo now.

which means that today’s bus knitting will be brown sock swatching for dh’s socks. (assuming I stay awake.)
