mitten #1 is done, except for the thumb. mitten #2, after this morning’s bus ride, is about halfway to the decreases. I’m waiting on the thumb to do them both together so they turn out the same length.

I also started a pair of Fetching in the suggested Cashmerino in a sort of teal color (though it looks bluer than teal to me) yesterday. I’m only two rows in though - figured I’d better finish the mittens before they get forgotten. I’m already in love with this yarn. good thing there’s more in the stash.

oh, and mom, thanks for the b-day card. I have a few ideas on what to gift myself. ;)

the other night I felt posessed to start some mittens. so I pulled out the Handy Book of Patterns and my notes on last year’s hat (I’m using the same yarn that was leftover so that they match last year’s xmas gift) and typed up the pattern numbers I’d need. made a nice before-bed project. I started knitting them on the bus yesterday morning, worked on ‘em a bit during the lunch SnB, and made it one row after the thumb increases (and into the color change) on the bus ride home. this morning’s ride was pretty productive - made it about 2/3 of the way up the hand and to within one row of switching colors again. I’m hoping this evening’s ride will get me close to finishing the first one.

so yeah, I’m thinking this year’s theme will pretty much be the year of mittens. I’m not sure about Eli though - he might get something different. maybe a beard, if his sisters still thinks he needs one. ;)

I just finished a small project for my CheapA$$ pal. Using the tangled beyond untangling yarn that I attempted to wind for a self-striping dying attempt. It turned out quite nicely, considering. Unfortunately, the remaining yarn was still too tangled, so I put it to use as a cobweb remover in the basement and then tossed it. At least I got some good use from it.

I’m slowly working on the Tasha bag with the Rowan Denim. I’m not overly motivated to knit lately even if it travels with me nearly everywhere. ah, well.

I had a great urge to pull out the sewing machine this weekend, so there may be more sewing projects finishing up soon. whatever works, eh?
