so, let’s see… this week has kind of been a blur.

sometime around Tuesday, the Twin Cities got blasted with rain. not good. we have one of those stupid window-well type windows in the basement. it fills up when it rains and then slowly seeps into the basement. well, when you get as much rain as we did the other night, it doesn’t seep slowly. no, it seeps out as fast as it can. and as soon as it was almost cleaned up, it began to rain again and we got even more water in the basement. and then it did that again. bye bye water-damaged furniture. we went out looking at houses on Wednesday - some areas had lakes in their back yards (and decided not to open their houses for showings as a result). so we’re renting a storage unit to put the non-damaged stuff from the basement into in the meantime and relocating dh’s computer stuff up to the living/dining room. so I’m a bit sore (hey, look! arm muscles I forgot I had!)

I want to say that Wednesday was also the day that my ball winder arrived from Herschnerr’s (grabbed it while they had free shipping, since the price was within a dollar of what I’d pay if I waited for JoAnn’s to have the 50% off coupon again). man, is that thing addicting. even dh is addicted. (he was digging thru my stash in search of something he could wind. hmm…. I wonder if this will allow me to buy more yarn, particularly if it comes in hanks that need winding.) so yeah. I’ve wound a few things up, and now I want to start more new projects. but I’m doing good and resisting until I finish up a few of those WIPs.

speaking of which, I’ve been making minimal progress on the side of the cat bed. I worked on it a bit Sunday while watching Desperate Housewives & Grey’s Anatomy. (and I worked a bit more of it tonight). the Thing has been progressing nicely on the commute to work. I’m now thru the upper stripes (and running out of the main yarn I was using. so it has a nice color change just before the stripes begin. once the Thing is done, then dh’s HP scarf will become the primary transit project (again). I’m so close to finishing three of them (the sweater, the tank, and the soap bag thing), I don’t know why I just don’t. maybe this weekend I’ll finish one of them.

I’m slacking on the final sets of Stitch markers - to those expecting them from me (not that you know who you are), apologies. I’ll try to get to them as soon as possible.

um, what else is new? oh, yeah. I got my yarn for Samus today! I’m not seeing that much identical yarn in my house! lol somehow I’m managing to resist the urge to start knitting it (maybe cuz I know that all the WIPs will end up taking a back seat for a while).

I also decided to rearrange my room tonight. had the not-so-brilliant idea to try and pass the cord to my monitor up from underneath, and messed up my shoulder a bit. while laying in bed waiting for the pain to subside a bit, realized that it’d make much more sense to unplug it from the power strip and pass it down from above. yeah, I’m not thinking straight. but my desk is now in the corner (with me facing into the corner), which means the room looks a lot more open. I’m hoping that it will make me a bit less inclined to sit solely at the computer while in here (the other things I’m supposed to be doing are sewing/crafting and purging/packing stuff).

so yeah, that’s the week in review. I have a ballwinder, I have sweater yarn, I have a new yarn-storage device (did I mention that? I got it from IKEA last weekend) and I’m slowly making progress on the WIPs.
