I finally finished adding the past photos to the new gallery and captioning them.
now, for a thumbnail test…

edit: yay, it works… now, to change the thumbnail links throughout the site. *sigh*

apparently cables are in this season. I’ve been seeing them in lots of shop windows on my way to work. and there’s lots of cables in the new knitty. yay!
to add to my ever expanding list of things I want to make…
* samus
* blackberry (though I find it mildly amusing that as far as I can see, there is no blackberry stitching in it. not that I mind, blackberry is mildly annoying to knit.)
* falling leaves
* and possibly someday ella, bubby, bloom, edgar, and josephine (if I can ever get into the ‘knit coat’ thing. right now I don’t see myself wearing it. maybe I’ll modify it a bit)
(oh, and I did cave into Crafter’s Choice. coming soon to my mailbox: Sensational Knitted Socks, Michaels Book of Needlecrafts & The Knitting Answer Book, The Pleasures of Knitting, Knitting over the Edge, and Simple Socks - that’s six books for the low price of $25.73 after shipping. Yarn Harlot’s book is pegged to be my regular-priced purchase.)
in non-knitting news, I’m finally reading Wicked (started it on Friday, I think). I’m having a hard time putting it down to do essential things like working and knitting. it’s WAY different from the musical, but that’s ok. I still want to see it when it tours here next year.
I think I’m about to join Crafter’s Choice for round three… last time they invited me back, there wasn’t much of interest, but now they’re offering:
* Pleasures of Knitting (got it from the library, like lots of the patterns)
* Scarf & Wrap Style (not sure I’ll get them, but they are worthy of note)
* At Knit Ends - gotta have!
* Knitting Over the Edge - another gotta have
* Loop d Loop - not sure on this one. it’s interesting
* and a new (to them) sock book.
There’s also Michael’s (craft store) Big Book of Needlecraft (knitting, crochet & embroidery), and a few others that I want. *sigh* now I need to evaluate the ones I want to make sure I get the best deal. *rolls eyes* like I need more knitting books…
going down to Kansas City this weekend for a feis and their Irish Festival. woohoo! leaving shortly. quick update:
* stitch markers for September will be sent out on Tuesday after I get back
* Sunday? I started making a Soap Bag. I’m about half-way done.
* Monday & Tuesday I worked on the Potato Chip scarf. It’s finished, aside from weaving in the ends. (I think it took a little over 6 hours. I decided to CO 100 sts. double that a couple times and by the end I had 800 sts on the needles! ooh, boy that was a pain in the patootie. very happy to have my Denise set - I ended up adding an extension on twice - so I had three cords - almost 48″ tip to tip, which ended up being more than enough space.) I used TLC CaraMia in Winter White which I got on clearance + 50% off at JoAnn’s. Knit on US 10 1/2 needles. I only used 1/2 the skein. Trying to decide if I want to make another one…
* today I used the leftover wool from the Aran hat and made an SnB Nation mouse for Kashka. I used some red Galway wool doubled for the stripe and did two stripes, cuz I was fearful of running out of yarn. Used size 6 needles. It took about 1-2 hours. I forgot to put catnip inside it while stuffing, so I rolled it in the bag of catnip - she was a happy kitty for a while. and I won’t be surprised if the mouse is nicely felted when I get home. ;)
