yesterday we got home from Wisconsin (some friends got married and I got to visit my family) and awaiting me were the Lion Brand catalog (who knew I signed up for it?!) and my crafter’s choice books. woohoo! Knitting Over the Edge is great - better than I was expecting. and the new Sensational Knitted Socks looks great too! I can’t wait to start making socks! I also got Simple Socks and the Pleasure of Knitting. and yet another goofy little crafter’s choice bag. *rolls eyes* honestly, what am I supposed to do with another one? my last book selection isn’t ready to ship yet.
today, waiting for me was my KnitPicks color cards (Andean Silk, Shine, Wool of the Andes, & Suri Dream. the Ambrosia/Panache one’s on backorder - of course, that’s the one I really wanted!) and another set of stitch markers. must be an October set. this set is from someone in CA, and the markers look like little cherries! how cute!
I have to say, the Suri Dream feels wonderful! so soft. you’d all be very amused if you could see my rubbing my face in the little snippets. I love the shine that the Shine has. I’m thinking something like MagKnits Nothing but a t-shirt would look cool using one of the ‘twist’ colors for the sleeves, etc and a matching solid for the body. now, if only I could choose a color from either WotA or the Andean Silk to use on Samus, Mariah, and any other worsted weight sweater that’s floating about in my mind… I am so not a decision maker…
oh, this weekend I also finished another snowflake. and I went to Hobby Lobby - they had a sale on needles and accessories. unfortunately, they didn’t have what I really need/want (fat dpns and fat cable needles). I did end up getting the larger-with-bent-tips Chibi set. also picked up some beads for stitch markers, a pattern for a knitting bag, and a ball of what I think is LB’s striped sock yarn (it was unlabeled) that was in the fabric remnant bin and marked $2.

I’ve added a bunch of pics to the new gallery - http://knit.criosa.com/photos/
they still need to be labeled and then linked into the proper posts, but it’s progress. :)
ETA: I’ve added the ability to comment to the gallery as well. we’ll see how long it takes the spammers to find it.

if you have me bookmarked, please update. I’ve moved the site to this address: http://knit.criosa.com/blog
if your link is to criosa.com/knitblog you’ll automatically be redirected. if you have criosa.com/knitblog/ you’ll get an error message. I don’t know why - apparently the / makes a difference to the internal workings of the website.
I will be working on updating all the photo links, webring info, etc. so you’ll probably encounter some broken images for a little while. please drop me an email if you encounter them in the next couple days so I can get them fixed.
also, it’s not changed yet, but the gallery has been upgraded and is now at http://knit.criosa.com/photos
ETA: huzzah! Webrings are sorted out (I was having issues with it, finally figured out why!) and I think for the most part the webring & link image/buttons are.
I’ve rejoined the Knitting Blogs ring (apologies to the ring-keepers for my laziness in relocating the code earlier. it truly was a pain in the butt figuring out why I couldn’t get them to work in the sidebar area. but now it’s all sorted out, and I shouldn’t have that problem again)
in other news, comments don’t seem to be working. grr. argh. we’ll figure that out soon.

I got another set of stitch markers today. squee! exciting as that is though, that’s not the full reason for the happy dance. I was in JoAnne’s getting another ball of Bellissimo for the legwarmer-in-progress and stumbled on the new ‘Super Size’ Sugar n Cream cottons. grabbed a blue one (Cornflower, to be exact), and hoped that it might match. got home, and YES it does. oh, I should probably mention what it is I’m trying to match. did I ever post about starting a tank top for Lilin from the More Paintbox Knits book? like, a month or so ago? the one I started with yarn from a Target knitting kit. yeah, that one. honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what’s included in the kit. (I tried looking to see if the yarn was made in Canada, but it doesn’t say.) so yeah, if you’re using one of the Target kits’ yarn for something other than what it’s kitted for, and it’s 100% cotton, try matching it to the Sugar n Cream cottons.
oddly enough, while looking at the info to see if the yarn had an origin, I discovered that the pattern (the boy’s Beanie, Bib, Bootie kit’s, at least) was written by Bernadette St Amant. she teaches classes and stuff at some of the LYS around here (Yarnzilla, Clickety Sticks, and maybe others?). I suppose that makes some sense since Target is based somewhere around here. how cool for her!
