why yes, it is… finally, another finished object. I finished the Voodoo’s on the way home from work today - well, I still need to weave the ends in, but otherwise they’re done. the second one is a wee bit longer than the first, but that doesn’t matter too much.

don’t the Harry Potter books make a nice backdrop? the red book to the side in the first pic is the Fantastic Beasts book. the UK editions are on the shelf above, but I think they’ve been cropped out. only 25 days til book 6 comes out! I can’t wait!
in other news, I joined the Stitch Marker Swap. now, to dig out the craft/bead supplies and make some more.
so I pulled out the new acquisitions to photo them, and then went to put them away. um, there’s no where to put them. back on the yarn diet we go. this does not mean no new knitting stuff though - I fully intend to get a ball winder & swift soon (slightly early bday gifts?) and some more books as I find them.
in other news, I’m running out of public transit knitting. will need a new project soon. here’s where the Voodoo’s are at now:

I tried to line up the thumb-holes. apparently my ability to compare lengths is a bit off. will have to think about how we’ll prevent that when I start the socks.
yeah, the yarn diet is officially dead. I think it’s been downgraded to a restriction. one of our LYS had a big sale last week - the end of the sale coincided with my first paycheck. I did good though, I had intended to buy some books and set myself a limit of $50. well, no books that I really wanted, but I did find some good yarn deals (and the total was well under the $40)
Deal #1 - sock yarn. they had been selling 3-packs of 100g sock yarn for $25 - the sale deal brought it down to $15! at $5/100g, I couldn’t pass it up!
Deal #2 - some Muench Tessin. it’s orange and has multi-colored bits in it, and it’s a wool/cotton/acrylic blend. $3/100g ball. so I got a few of them and plan to make a cardigan (and accessories, depending on leftovers) for the baby my sister is due to have this fall. supposedly it’ll be a boy, but either way, it’ll work well. (and my sister’s fave color is orange, so that’s a bonus). just need to figure out what guage it is and then find a pattern.
today I decided to stop in another LYS that’s just off the light rail (well, a few blocks from it anyway). found a book on making kilt hose. haven’t seen it before, and she has instructions on making the ‘diced’ (argyle) hose as well, so I had to grab it. a couple more balls of sock yarn from their sale loft came out with me as well. they had some Elsbeth Lavold wool/silk (I think) up in the sale loft too, but didn’t know what I’d make with it, so that didn’t leave with me. but it did tempt me. as did the mohair blends and other silk blends that were up there.

oh, and at some point, I hit the thrift store again. managed to score some Trendsetter’s Binario in two different colors (1 ball each), a ball of Crystal Palace Deco Ribbon, a ball of Unger Britania (100% wool. I’m going to dye it) and a few sets of DPNs

one last photo to share… I had an excellent swap with purly from the knittyboards - she has give a home to the orphan Brittany needle and sent me this in exchange:

the August ‘05 issue of Knit n Style, two balls of LB Magic Stripes, and another flavor of sock yarn. Thanks so much!
