nope, my botched attempt at the legwarmer. by some stroke of brilliance, I wanted the start of the round to be the center of the stirrup (aka heel hole). so I started binding off, knit around, and then bound off again. realized I’d have a random loop in the middle. um, not what I was going for… but it was bothering me a wee bit anyways - some of the sections of ribbing were loose and looked sort of ladder-like - and they weren’t by the joints of the dpns. (well some were, but they were mainly on the purl sections of the ribbing) - you can kind of see the problem in the detail pic.
anywho, I started frogging, but hit a trouble spot, so I threw it in the freezer (I’ve read a tip somewhere - probably the knittyboard - that freezing mohair and other problem yarns helps in frogging. the cold changes how the hairs join or something?). frogging still wasn’t cooperating - I must have knit some stray mohairs together with the next stitch or something. they’re not moving. so I started frogging around it. laid it down, and you have a squid look-alike (well, maybe more jellyfish like…)

Well, I survived my first week of work. The job is pretty good - everyone I’ve met is really nice. The work itself isn’t too bad either - primarily data entry for bills, but I get to pay other people now and then, so it’s not nearly as monotonous and boring as the data entry job I had for a magazine publisher (where I stared at people’s addresses 8 hrs a day. ugh). And I’m starting to get the hang of it and remember how to do things after the data entry part on my own (ok, do this little bit on the ‘puter, print the checks, get them signed, make copies, staple things, etc and I’m done for the day).
I’ve been taking a bus/train combo to get to work (the blessing of living so close to the Mall of America - lots of bus options!). Which means I’ve been getting a good 30-45 minutes of uninterrupted KIP time twice a day. Excellent excuse to learn how to make socks! But first, I’m finishing up the Voodoo Wrist Warmers that have been in progress ‘forever’.

The red arrow is where I started the beginning of this week - right at the start of that white section. Note the shaded area to the right. That’s what interrupted my KIPing on the way home Friday. Yes, my friends, that is a knot in my yarn. The first I’ve encountered. The frustrating thing - I do not travel with a scissors in my purse, so I had to wait til I got home so I could cut it out to continue knitting on. The annoying part - two extra bits to weave in when I finish. I hate weaving in ends. I mean really - neither of the monster skeins of Red Heart & RH substitute have had any knots - and I’ve probably used over half of those monster skeins at this point! oh, well. not the end of the world really, just a bit annoying.
* for the non-knitters, KIP stands for Knitting in Public

found a 3-column template I want to use, so I’ll be fixing things on it and what-not. which means that if the blue/non-cat design is up, some things may be ‘broken’ (and I’m probably working on updating things at that time).
the plan includes relocating the webrings to the main page so that I don’t get killed by any ring-owners. ;-) (j/k. though I do apologize for not fixing things for you sooner.) also plan to put up Knit-Along buttons/links. and add more links to sites & blogs I like. and some other things are in the works as well.
the added bonus is that things don’t get covered up when the window shrinks (or the site is viewed on a smaller screen resolution). and splitting things into two side-columns means the column of links and such won’t go on forever.
so please bear with me as I get things fixed up…
(I was going to work on it now, but I think I want to knit…)

I’ve decided to sew myself a needle case of some sort. You should see the small collection of patterns I have to try this from: the one in the SnB book, the out-of-print Simplicity pattern, the one from the Sweater Workshop book, and this one. being the crazy person that I am, I became obsessed with finding the Simplicity pattern - bid on it on eBay, and was sent the wrong pattern. ended up getting it from a different seller. and what did this obsession leave me with? not using it. well, I did steal the idea from it to use bias tape around the edges so it’ll look a little prettier. but for the most part I’m using the one linked with some alterations. so at this point I have the fabric cut, layed out, and am trying to decide how I want to sew it together. and I’m thinking I want to add an accessory pocket of sorts (I’m thinking vinyl with a velcro closure), but I’m not sure where to add it. *rolls eyes* of course, I can’t do things according to the pattern. no I have to modify and make it more complicated than it really is. =)
so that’s my non-knitting update. I think I’ll go stare at it some more and see if I can figure out what I’m trying to do…
