went out today in search of red & black wool to do the intarsia on the mini-skull bag (I made it thru the handles and am working on the inch or so before the intarsia starts). as usual, Joann’s had only two colors in stock of the Paton’s Merino Wool. so, off to Three Kittens, with a stop at Half Price Books. I LUV that store! Picked up an older edition of Vogue’s Ultimate Knitting Book (it’s got some knitting-in-progress in shades of pink, blue, & purple on the cover) for less than $20. I did get my wool - turns out that Three Kittens was also out of red & black Paton’s (though they did have a few other colors in stock) so I picked it up in Galway wool instead. hopefully the gauge matches and it’ll all felt together good. now, to figure out the intarsia part… oh, and I also finally figured out what one of the sweaters there was made out of (I think I’ve been eyeing up that sweater since the first time I stopped in there) - the sweater is gray and cabled and feels really comfy (well, feeling it anyway - it’s not like I actually tried it on or something). the yarn is Gedifra Cordilla - a yummy alpaca/wool blend. I’m contemplating it for Mariah.
