A bit of progress…

Yesterday (Wednesday), I started working on the scarf for my sister. That yarn is fun! I’m making it on size 11’s, so it’s coming along fairly quick. I also decided to start working on a kitty wonton with the yarn I got from the kit at Stitch to Win. It’s coming along, but the gauge is so tight it feels like it’s taking forever.

I also went on a needle hunt yesterday. It seems it’s darn near impossible to find 12″ circular needles. If I’m lucky, I can find 16″, and all the craft stores (Michaels, JoAnns) seem to carry is the 29″ lengths - argh! I did get a ‘learn to knit’ kit at Michaels though, cuz with the 40% off coupon it was a seemingly good deal for all the accessories, etc it came with. and I got a tiny dowel to make some DIY needles from - I think it works out to around a size 4 needle. And I noticed that both Michaels & JoAnns stock the Vogue Knitting magazine. I wonder if either of them has the Interweave one…

Oh, and I also joined “Thing-A-Long”. It doesn’t start til the New Year, but that’s fine by me. Gives me time to find money so I can buy the book and yarn. =)

more LYS fun!

I went LYS-hopping again today. This time I headed a bit further out to the Southwest ‘burbs. I went to Coldwater Creek & Yarnzilla. Both are awesome shops. Yarnzilla is online and is pretty new. The woman working there was really friendly. I found some Plymouth Encore DK in a blueish-gray color for $2.99 (that was a sale price - I have no idea what it would cost normally, but it was nice to find something cheap among all the pricey yarns! lol!) anywho, it is destined for Nakiska. Then I went back to Needlework Unlimited, since I didn’t get to shop as long as I wanted to last week. I picked up the yarn for my sister’s scarf - it’s Lana Grossa Pep Blocco in the orange/black color. Yay! Now I just need to decipher the European codes on it and figure out what size needles I want to use for it.

In other news, I received some needles I had bid on on eBay. So now I have some size 1 DPNs, some odd size circulars, and a pair of flexi needles.
